How old do you think she is? A one- or two-year-old kid is eating the food from a bowl with the spoon in her little hand. The outdoor concrete stairs turn into her table. Her older sister is barely holding her spoon feebly. What has made these kids eat here outdoors?

A long-term drought has lasted in Madagascar. Repetitive floods cyclones, and contagious diseases are affecting the people in the Southern and the Southeastern regions. Also, those repetitive natural disasters caused domestic migration, so the number of the children who have been forced to quit their study has increased. United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund(UNICEF) estimated that in 2004 humanitarian aid would be needed for 2.3 million people, a third of the population of the Southern and the Southeastern regions. Besides, it was concerned that about 550,000 kids would go through malnutrition with 114,000 of them suffering from atrocious cases. Let’s pray God may be the shelter and rescue for Madagascan people who, to gain the salvation, rely on the Almighty God who holds us in His arms, feeds us, and covers us.

“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”(Psalm 91:1~2_ESV) [GPNews]
